TLDR The ethosomal delivery system improves topical drug delivery and promotes hair growth.
The study developed a mouse epidermal growth factor (mEGF) ethosomal delivery system to investigate its penetration pathways and biological functions. The ethosomal system demonstrated enhanced topical drug delivery efficiency, penetrating deeper and faster through the pilosebaceous unit compared to mEGF water solutions and gels. The mEGF ethosomes effectively transitioned hair follicles from the telogen to the anagen phase, indicating their potential as a superior therapeutic option for treating hair and skin disorders. The study concluded that the ethosomal delivery system is beneficial for the topical penetration of biological agents, particularly in advancing hair follicle cycles.
