TLDR Minoxidil does not prevent aging in hair follicle cells.
The study investigated the effects of minoxidil on postconfluent human hair follicle cells to assess its hair growth-promoting properties. It was found that there was no significant difference in the number of cell passages or the number of viable cells between the minoxidil-treated group (10 μg/ml) and the control group. Additionally, there were no changes in the differentiation of hair follicle cells, as processes such as nuclear disappearance, cell enlargement, and cornified envelope formation were observed similarly in both groups. Therefore, minoxidil did not exhibit an anti-aging effect on hair follicle cells.
