TLDR Minoxidil does not prevent aging in hair follicle cells.
The study investigated the effects of minoxidil on postconfluent human hair follicle cells to assess its hair growth-promoting action. It was found that there was no difference in the number of passages or the number of cells capable of being passaged between the minoxidil 10 μg/ml group and the control group. Additionally, there were no changes in the differentiation of hair follicle cells, and processes such as nuclear disappearance, cell enlargement, and cornified envelope formation were observed similarly in both groups. Therefore, minoxidil did not exhibit an anti-aging effect on hair follicle cells.
