TLDR Minoxidil helps prevent hair loss from chemotherapy in rats.
In 1995, a study found that minoxidil can protect against hair loss induced by the chemotherapy drug cytosine arabinoside in a rat animal model. The researchers suggest that minoxidil may be a useful adjunct therapy for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy to prevent hair loss. The mechanism of action of minoxidil in its protection against chemotherapy-induced alopecia is currently unknown and under investigation.
