TLDR Micro needling is a skin treatment that helps with various skin conditions including stretch marks, by boosting collagen production, but it may cause redness and irritation.
Micro needling (MN) is a modern therapeutic option in dermatology used for various applications including transdermal delivery of drugs, scar reduction, skin rejuvenation, androgenic alopecia and alopecia areata, post acne scars pigmentation-Melasma and periorbital hyper melanosis, actinic keratoses, post-surgical scars, vitiligo and miscellaneous conditions. The treatment works by enhancing collagen production or reducing vascularity. MN instruments include automated micro needling device, micro fabricated microneedle, derma-stamp and microneedle derma roller. The advantage of MN is that it doesn't leave open wounds, requiring only a short recovery period. However, it can cause potential erythema and irritation. It is contraindicated for patients on anticoagulant therapy, those with herpes labialis, active acne or any other local infections.
