    The study investigated the protective effects of methanol extract of Russelia equisetiformis (MEREQ) against paracetamol-induced liver damage in Wistar rats. Rats were pretreated with varying doses of MEREQ for 7 days before inducing hepatotoxicity with paracetamol. Results showed that paracetamol significantly increased serum levels of liver enzymes (AST, ALT, ALP) and bilirubin, indicating liver damage. However, treatment with MEREQ significantly reduced these levels in a dose-dependent manner, suggesting a protective effect. Histopathological analysis confirmed reduced liver damage in MEREQ-treated rats. The study concluded that MEREQ has a protective effect against paracetamol-induced hepatic injury.
