TLDR Ayurvedic treatment, including Matra basti, may help improve PCOS symptoms.
This study investigated the effects of Matra basti, an Ayurvedic treatment, on a 29-year-old female with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The treatment included a 75 ml unctuous enema with Phala ghrita over two menstrual cycles, combined with lifestyle changes like a healthy diet and regular sleep. The patient experienced significant improvements, including reduced menstrual pain, decreased facial hair and acne, weight loss, and normalized hormone levels. The study concluded that Ayurvedic management, particularly for Yonivyapada, could be beneficial for PCOS, indicating potential for wider application.
