TLDR Metformin and clomiphene citrate together improve pregnancy chances and reduce miscarriages in women with PCOS.
The study focused on women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition affecting 5% of women and characterized by high androgen levels and anovulatory cycles, leading to symptoms like infertility, androgenic alopecia, and other skin conditions. It was found that a combined treatment of metformin and clomiphene citrate improved pregnancy outcomes and reduced miscarriage rates in women with PCOS undergoing intrauterine insemination.
