Treatment of Malassezia Dermatitis in a Domestic Dog

In this veterinary case report, a mixed breed dog with Malassezia dermatitis showed significant improvement and hair regrowth after 28 days of treatment with ketoconazole and other supportive therapies.

In this case report, combination therapy effectively resolved chronic malasseziosis within 28 days in a small-breed dog from a Southeast Asian tropical climate, with significant symptom improvement and reduced Malassezia density observed by week 4.

This case report describes a Balinese breed dog diagnosed with demodecosis and malasseziosis, which improved after 30 days of treatment including amitraz, ketoconazole, and supportive therapies. The findings suggest that consistent treatment and environmental management can aid in recovery from these skin conditions in dogs.

In this study, a mixed breed dog with Malassezia fungal dermatitis and tick infestation showed notable improvement after 14 days of treatment with itraconazole, loratadine, fish oil, sebasol shampoo, and multivitamins, with reduced skin symptoms and hair regrowth observed.

In this veterinary case study, a 5-year-old Labrador with pruritus and alopecia tested positive for Malassezia pachydermatitis and recovered after treatment with oral terbinafine and topical ketoconazole.
