Exosomes And Platelet-Rich Plasma As New Regenerative Therapies In Alopecia: A Systematic Literature Review

This study assesses the potential of exosomes as a therapeutic option for androgenetic alopecia, examining their mechanisms and effectiveness. The authors conducted a systematic review of existing research to explore how these extracellular vesicles might stimulate hair growth and restore follicle function.

This study reviewed recent advancements in treating androgenetic alopecia, reporting that while minoxidil and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors remain well-supported treatments, emerging therapies like microneedling, platelet-rich plasma, low-level laser, and regenerative medicine show promising complementary results.

This review found that platelet-rich plasma treatment is effective for androgenetic alopecia, significantly increasing hair diameter in both sexes, but only improving hair density in men.

This review found that exosome therapy shows the most promise for hair regrowth and safety in treating androgenetic alopecia, surpassing platelet-rich plasma, while minoxidil remains less effective but more accessible. Further research is needed to refine these treatments.
