TLDR Early detection and tailored treatment of lupus nephritis are crucial to prevent kidney damage.
Nefritis lupus (NL) is a common complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (LES) that can lead to decreased kidney function within 5 years if not promptly detected, potentially requiring renal replacement therapy. Diagnosis and classification of NL are based on kidney biopsy results, and treatment should be tailored to the patient's specific histological class. In cases of non-remission or relapse, it is important to reassess causative factors and develop strategies to address them. Early intervention is crucial to save nephron cells and prevent progression to end-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD).
