TLDR Low-level light therapy is used in cosmetics and dermatology to repair skin, reduce inflammation, and treat various skin conditions.
Low-level light therapy (LLLT) involved the use of nonthermal, coherent, or noncoherent light sources to alter biological activity, reduce pain and inflammation, and promote tissue repair and regeneration. It had been increasingly used for aesthetic treatments such as photorejuvenation, which addressed fine wrinkles, photoaged skin, and scars, and for inflammatory acne. Studies also indicated its potential for treating vitiligo, psoriasis, photoprotection, hair regrowth, and fat reduction. The chapter discussed these applications, focusing on cosmetic dermatology, skin conditions, hair loss treatment, and fat reduction procedures.
