TLDR Low-dose oral minoxidil effectively promotes hair growth with minimal side effects.
This 24-week clinical study assessed the effectiveness and safety of low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM) in treating androgenetic alopecia in 50 participants (70% male, 30% female). Results showed a significant increase in hair count from baseline to 12 weeks and further to 24 weeks, indicating continuous hair growth. Additionally, there was a mild reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure over the study period. Adverse effects were minimal, with hypertrichosis occurring in 6% of participants and postural hypotension in 2%. The study concludes that LDOM effectively promotes hair growth with minimal side effects, though further research is needed to confirm long-term efficacy and safety.
