TLDR Low-dose oral minoxidil alone is effective for treating hair loss, but combining it with dutasteride or finasteride may offer better results.
The study investigates the efficacy and safety of low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM) monotherapy compared to combination therapy with antiandrogens, such as dutasteride or finasteride, for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA). While LDOM is recognized as a safe and effective off-label treatment, finasteride and dutasteride are commonly used as antiandrogen 5α-reductase inhibitors. The study aims to explore the benefits of combining these treatments, as the advantages of such combinations have not been thoroughly examined. The research highlights the need for further exploration into the potential enhanced outcomes of combination therapy for AGA.
