TLDR A 12-year-old boy has a rare, harmless hair loss on his chin with no need for treatment.
This document presents a unique case of congenital triangular alopecia (CTA) involving the chin in a 12-year-old male, which is typically a benign, non-scarring patch of hair loss usually found on the temporal scalp. Differential diagnoses include alopecia areata, trichotillomania, and aplasia cutis congenital. Trichoscopy revealed a significant decrease in hair diameter diversity with an increased number of vellus and intermediate hairs, while histopathology showed normal hair follicle density. There is no effective treatment for CTA, and therapeutic interventions such as topical minoxidil, surgical excision, and hair transplantation are generally not necessary.
