TLDR Nutrafol might help reduce hair loss due to inflammation, but more evidence is needed.
The 2018 literature review discussed the potential benefits of Nutrafol, a hair supplement containing various botanical ingredients, in treating hair loss. Nutrafol includes curcumin, an anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenger, which also inhibits transcription factor TNF-kB and has natural anti-androgen effects. To improve curcumin's typically poor absorption, it is co-administered with black pepper. Other ingredients include Ashwaghandha, an adaptogen known for lowering stress cortisol levels, and Saw palmetto, a natural plant-based 5-AR inhibitor. The supplement also contains tocopherols and marine-based collagen hydrolysates. The review suggested that these supplements could help mitigate inflammatory factors contributing to hair loss. However, the review also noted the lack of placebo-controlled clinical studies confirming the efficacy of Nutrafol, indicating that more data was needed.

Nutrafol, a hair loss supplement, has limited and potentially biased research, with one study showing a 10% increase in hair count for women after 6 months but no significant results for men. The user concludes that cheaper, well-studied options like minoxidil may be more effective, especially for men, given the lack of evidence supporting Nutrafol.

Hair loss treatments discussed include minoxidil, finasteride, and RU58841. Salon products and supplements generally don't work for hair regrowth unless there's a severe nutritional deficiency, while hormonal treatments like estrogen and spironolactone can be effective.

The conversation is about supplements for hair health. Nutrafol and Viviscal are mentioned, with Nutrafol preferred due to saw palmetto; individual supplements like zinc, vitamin D, iron, B complex, magnesium, and inositol are also discussed.
