Activity Test of Liquorice Root Water Extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) as a Hair Growth Promoter in Male Rabbits

The study investigated the hair growth-promoting effects of water extract of licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) on male rabbits. Six areas were treated: normal control, negative control, positive control, and three areas with licorice root extract at concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5%. The extract was applied twice daily for 35 days, and hair growth was measured every 7 days. The 2.5% concentration showed the best hair growth rate at 2.19 cm in 35 days, while the 5% concentration resulted in the highest hair weight at 0.12 grams in 35 days. The results indicated that licorice root extract could promote hair growth in rabbits.
