TLDR Topical treatment improved rare scalp lichen amyloidosis.
This case report described a rare instance of lichen amyloidosis (LA) on the scalp of a 64-year-old Chinese male, who had a history of androgenetic alopecia. The patient presented with multiple dark-brown papules on the scalp, which were asymptomatic and increased over time. Histological examination confirmed amyloid deposits in the papillary dermis. The patient was treated with clobetasol propionate/all-trans retinoic acid compound ointment, resulting in significant improvement after 2 months. The study highlighted the importance of recognizing atypical presentations of primary cutaneous amyloidosis and suggested that dermoscopy could aid in diagnosis.
