The study successfully developed and validated a robust liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method to simultaneously measure seven androgens in human plasma, including testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, and androstenedione, among others. The method demonstrated good precision and recovery rates, with no significant matrix effects, and was sensitive enough for accurate measurement. In a study involving 73 healthy volunteers, 25 females with acne, and 33 obese females, it was found that females with acne had higher levels of dihydrotestosterone, androstenedione, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, while obese females had higher testosterone and androstenedione levels but lower dihydrotestosterone levels. This method was deemed important for clinical applications.
