TLDR Keratin 75 might be important in oral cancer progression.
The study investigated the expression of Keratin 75 (K6hf) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) using advanced techniques like laser microdissection and LC/MS/MS. It found that K6hf could be a potential marker for OSCC, as its expression might be linked to the malignancy of oral epithelial lesions. Although K6hf was previously known to be expressed in hair follicles and associated with Keratin 17, its role in carcinoma was not reported before. The study concluded that K6hf might play a significant role in the progression of OSCC, but further research was needed to understand its molecular function in this context.
