TLDR Keloids on the penis are rare, often triggered by circumcision, and rarely recur after surgery.
The systematic review investigates the occurrence and treatment of keloids on the penis, a rare condition with unclear pathophysiology. The review included 12 studies, comprising 9 case reports and 3 case series, from a total of 361 studies found. Circumcision was identified as the most common trigger for keloid formation, particularly in prepubescent children. Various therapies were employed, with only one case of scar recurrence after surgical treatment. The rarity of keloid formation in male genitalia poses challenges for conducting more comprehensive studies, highlighting the need for further research with stronger scientific evidence.
