TLDR Iron deficiency is linked to hair loss in CTE patients.
The study investigated the relationship between Chronic Telogen Effluvium (CTE) and trace metal levels, specifically copper and iron, by analyzing hair and serum samples from 50 CTE patients and 50 healthy controls. Results indicated that CTE patients had significantly lower hair and serum iron levels (p<0.001) compared to controls, while no significant difference was found in hair copper levels (p=0.713). However, CTE patients exhibited significantly higher serum copper levels (p<0.001). The study concluded that there is a positive association between iron deficiency and hair loss in CTE patients.
