TLDR IPL treatment can significantly reduce hair in faun tail but may need local anesthesia.
The study evaluated the use of intense pulsed light (IPL) for treating faun tail, a rare cutaneous marker of spinal dysraphism, in two patients. Using the Lumina IPL system, the treatment achieved a mean hair reduction of 85%. Tethered cord syndrome was identified as a neurological abnormality in both patients. Due to severe pain, local anesthesia was required for one patient. The study concluded that IPL treatment provided good cosmetic results for faun tail, but local anesthesia might be necessary due to associated neurological issues.
