TLDR Future clinical uses of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are likely to grow and become more effective with new advancements and combined treatments.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology has been utilized for two decades, initially for various medical issues and more recently for cosmetic purposes. The review traces the evolution of IPL through three stages: germination, growth, and relative maturity, and examines its classical applications for treating vascular and pigmented lesions, hair growth, and photo rejuvenation. Although IPL has shown limited effects on complex skin conditions, studies have investigated its use in combination with lasers and other cosmetic technologies. The review suggests that with advancements in IPL devices and combined treatments, future clinical applications of IPL are expected to expand and improve in efficacy.
