TLDR PRP treatment reduces inflammation and increases interleukin-10 in alopecia areata patients.
The study investigated the concentrations of interleukin-17A, interleukin-2, and interleukin-10 in 37 patients with alopecia areata before and after treatment with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Results showed that levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-17A and interleukin-2 were significantly higher in patients before treatment. After 17 months of PRP therapy, these levels approached those of the control group. There was no initial difference in interleukin-10 levels between patients and healthy individuals, but interleukin-10 levels increased after 3 and 17 months of treatment.
