Interleukin 17 Expression in Psoriatic Skin Lesions before and after Treatment with Platelet Rich Plasma (PrP)
TLDR Platelet Rich Plasma reduces psoriasis symptoms but isn't enough alone for treatment.
This study investigated the effect of Platelet Rich Plasma (PrP) on Interleukin 17 (IL17) expression in psoriatic skin lesions in 24 patients. PrP injections led to significant reductions in clinical parameters such as size, erythema, thickness, and scaling of psoriatic plaques, while saline injections only reduced scaling. Additionally, 6 out of 9 IL17-positive plaques became IL17-negative after PrP treatment, whereas all plaques remained IL17-positive with saline. Despite these improvements, PrP alone was not deemed sufficient as a standalone treatment for localized plaque psoriasis.
