TLDR The 5050 MHA42MCS45 hydrogel blend is suitable for repairing load-bearing soft tissues.
The study examined photo-cross-linked hydrogels made from methacrylated glycol chitosan (MGC), hyaluronic acid (MHA), and chondroitin sulfate (MCS) for use in load-bearing soft tissue repair. Hydrogels were tested for their mechanical properties, swelling behavior, and chondrocyte viability and metabolic activity. The 5050 MHA42MCS45 hydrogel blend showed promising results with high initial modulus, low swelling, and enhanced metabolic activity of encapsulated chondrocytes, suggesting its suitability for reparative load-bearing soft tissue constructs.
