TLDR PL-FUT is an effective hair restoration method for burn victims with minimal scarring and high patient satisfaction.
The study focused on partial longitudinal follicular unit transplantation (PL-FUT) as a hair restoration technique for burn victims, involving four patients aged 22 to 39 with facial and scalp burns. The method used specialized needles to harvest and implant grafts, with observations made over a 2-year period. Results indicated successful hair reproduction at the donor site and satisfactory cosmetic outcomes for the patients. PL-FUT was found to be a reliable method that allows for the regeneration of the donor area and the possibility of future treatments, with minimal scarring and discomfort. All patients were content with the results and their treatments were covered by health insurance. The study concluded that PL-FUT is a preferred method for surgical hair restoration in burn victims due to its patient-friendly approach and preservation of the donor area.
