Evaluating the Impact of Skin Diseases on Anxiety, Depression, Loneliness, and Quality of Life

    April 2025
TLDR Skin diseases like acne and vitiligo worsen anxiety, depression, loneliness, and quality of life, but alopecia does not.
The study evaluated the impact of skin diseases, including acne, melasma, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and alopecia, on anxiety, depression, loneliness, and quality of life among 200 individuals, half of whom had skin diseases. Results showed that acne, melasma, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis significantly affected anxiety, depression, loneliness, and quality of life, with high R-squared values indicating strong relationships. However, alopecia did not significantly impact these outcomes.
