TLDR Hair follicles and sweat glands show different keratin staining patterns.
The study investigated the immunohistochemical staining characteristics of hair follicles and eccrine sweat glands using antisera against keratin proteins. It was found that the medulla, cortex, and inner root sheath of hair follicles were positively stained with both antisera only at the keratogenous zone, while the outer root sheath showed variable staining with 64KA. Eccrine glands displayed a heterogeneous staining pattern in the secretory portion, whereas the ductal portions were homogeneously stained. In eccrine poroma, tumor cells were positively stained with TKA, but showed mixed staining with 64KA, indicating varied keratinization among tumor cells.
