TLDR Women with cicatricial hair loss may have a higher risk of hypertension.
The study found that African American and Caucasian women with cicatricial hair loss had an increased risk of hypertension compared to control groups. This suggested a potential link between cicatricial hair loss and hypertension, possibly due to overlapping biological mechanisms involving the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), which is known to contribute to fibrosis. The findings highlighted the importance of considering hypertension as a significant health concern in women experiencing cicatricial hair loss during reproductive aging.
