TLDR Human placental extract may help treat osteoarthritis, but more research is needed.
The review article explored the potential of human placental extract (HPE) as a therapeutic option for osteoarthritis (OA). HPE, derived from post-delivery placenta, contained growth factors, cytokines, and amino acids that could promote tissue regeneration and reduce inflammation. It showed promise in reversing OA progression through its regenerative properties and anti-inflammatory effects, as demonstrated in various studies. HPE was noted for reducing inflammatory markers, preventing fibrosis, and mitigating cartilage degradation. However, the efficacy of HPE in human OA treatment required further investigation, and more well-designed studies were necessary to confirm its role in OA treatment.
