TLDR Homemade hair treatments can significantly lower drug levels in hair, possibly causing false-negative drug tests.
The study evaluated the effect of three homemade hair treatments on the concentrations of various drugs in hair samples. All treatments resulted in a decrease in drug concentrations, with the first treatment being the most effective, reducing drug presence by around 80%, except for methadone and THC. The rate of decrease varied between samples, likely due to differences in hair characteristics and initial drug concentration. The study concluded that these treatments can lower drug concentrations in hair, potentially leading to false-negative results in hair drug tests. The authors suggest further research to develop methods to detect such practices.
