TLDR Cyproterone acetate and ethinylestradiol effectively reduce hirsutism and acne in women.
The study involved 175 women with hirsutism and acne, treated with two combinations of cyproterone acetate and ethinylestradiol (SH 8.1041 and SH B209AB). SH 8.1041 was given to 90 patients, SH B209AB to 10, and 75 received both. Over 1534 treatment cycles, significant improvement was noted, with SH 8.1041 effectively reducing hirsutism after four cycles and acne after one month. SH B209AB served as maintenance therapy, particularly for milder acne. Both treatments were well-tolerated, though some patients on SH 8.1041 experienced minor side effects like transient frigidity and mild depression.
