TLDR Longer exposure to high-power millimeter wave radiation causes more severe skin damage in mice.
The study investigated the effects of high-power millimeter wave radiation on the skin of 120 male mice, divided into control, 50 s, 100 s, and 150 s radiation groups. Results showed that longer exposure times led to higher skin temperatures and more severe skin damage. In the 50 s group, mild effects like vasodilation were observed, while the 100 s group experienced stratum corneum breakage and dermal edema. The 150 s group showed severe lesions, including stratum corneum desquamation, hemorrhage, and collagen fiber degeneration. Hair follicle atrophy and collagen type III appearance were noted, with hair regeneration occurring 7 days post-radiation. The study concluded that high-power millimeter wave radiation could cause skin injury in mice, with severity increasing with longer exposure times.
