TLDR Hairless gene not strongly linked to baldness.
This study investigated the potential involvement of the hairless (HR) gene in androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by analyzing the genetic variability of HR in individuals with AGA and their families. The study found some genetic variants that were associated with AGA, but the results were not significant after correcting for multiple testing. The study did not provide strong evidence for a significant role of HR in the development of AGA.
