TLDR Fat grafting before hair transplant may improve hair growth in scarring alopecia.
In 2020, a study was conducted on two patients with primary scarring alopecia of the scalp, who were pretreated with autologous fat grafting before undergoing hair transplantation. The results showed successful short-term hair growth in both patients. This suggests that autologous fat grafting could potentially enhance the success of hair transplantation in patients with scarring alopecia. However, as the study only involved two patients, further research with a larger sample size is needed to confirm these findings.
