TLDR Deucravacitinib helped a man regrow hair significantly.
A 51-year-old man with alopecia universalis (AU) and psoriasis vulgaris experienced significant hair regrowth during treatment with deucravacitinib, a tyrosine kinase-2 inhibitor. Initially, the patient had almost complete hair loss and a high Severity of Alopecia Tool Score (SALT score) of 97. After 7 months of deucravacitinib therapy, his SALT score improved to 13, with substantial regrowth of scalp, eyebrow, and body hair, and no adverse events reported. This case suggests that deucravacitinib may be effective for AU, although further controlled studies are needed to confirm its efficacy. The improvement in psoriasis was also noted, with the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) decreasing from 8 to 4. The study highlights the potential of deucravacitinib as a treatment option for severe forms of alopecia areata.
