Overcoming Genetic Drivers In Alopecia Areata: Hair Regrowth In A Patient With AIRE Gene Mutation (Autoimmune Polyendocrinopathy–Candidiasis–Ectodermal Dystrophy, APECED Syndrome) Treated With Ruxolitinib

    James Irvine, Susan Holmes
TLDR Ruxolitinib helped a patient with alopecia areata regrow hair.
A patient with alopecia areata (AA) linked to autoimmune polyendocrinopathy–candidiasis–ectodermal dystrophy (APECED syndrome) experienced complete hair regrowth after treatment with the Janus kinase inhibitor (JAKi) ruxolitinib. This case underscores the potential of JAK inhibitors in treating both genetically associated and sporadic forms of AA.
