TLDR Korean Wild Ginseng extract may increase hair thickness and satisfaction among users, but not significantly increase hair count.
In a study conducted 15 years ago, 34 participants, 28 men and 6 women, were tested over an 8-week period to determine the effects of herb extracts containing cultured Korean Wild Ginseng on hair loss prevention and hair growth promotion. The results showed that the amount of hair loss in the treatment group decreased, and the number of hairs increased from 106.7 to 121.4 hairs per square centimeter, although this was not statistically significant (p>0.05). However, the average thickness of the hairs in the treatment group significantly increased from 0.0592 mm to 0.0673 mm (p<0.05). In contrast, the control group saw a decrease in hair count and thickness. In a questionnaire, 58.0% of the treatment group reported high satisfaction with the herb extract treatment for hair loss and hair growth.
