TLDR Nutrients can help improve hair growth and thickness caused by pollution.
The study investigated the impact of pollution on hair loss and the potential of nutrients to counteract this damage. Involving 63 patients aged 18-38, the research found that pollutants cause hair loss by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to metabolic dysfunction and epigenetic changes. Patients were given a combination of oral supplements, including curcumin, quercetin, vitamins, and amino acids, over 4 months. Results showed common symptoms like diffuse hair loss and scalp irritation, but with nutrient supplementation, there was a 16-21% improvement in hair density and an 18-22% improvement in hair caliber. The study concluded that nutrients could effectively promote hair growth without the need for finasteride, antiandrogens, or minoxidil.
