TLDR Taking supplements after sleeve gastrectomy surgery can reduce hair loss by addressing nutritional deficiencies.
The study investigated the effects of specially designed supplements on hair loss in 1,224 patients who underwent sleeve gastrectomy, focusing on nutritional deficiencies that contribute to hair loss. Results showed that patients without supplements had higher rates of hair loss (53% in younger and 58% in older women) compared to those with supplements (40% in younger and 36% in older groups). The study concluded that preoperative monitoring and correction of micronutrient deficiencies, particularly in iron and zinc, are essential for preventing hair loss and other complications post-surgery.
