TLDR Adequate zinc and iron intake may reduce hair loss after bariatric surgery.
The study found that women with severe and morbid obesity who underwent bariatric surgery experienced varying levels of hair loss six months post-surgery. Those who had lower hair loss were observed to have higher intake of zinc and iron, as well as less compromised nutritional status regarding these minerals. This suggested a potential link between adequate zinc and iron nutrition and reduced hair loss following bariatric surgery.
