Study on Hair Loss and Care Practices Among Students at the University of Manizales, Manizales (Colombia), 2016

    TLDR Many students at the University of Manizales experience hair loss, needing urgent help.
    The study conducted at the University of Manizales in 2016 aimed to identify the frequency of hair loss among 330 students. The average age was 21.8 years, and 55.7% experienced hair loss. Autoimmune diseases were present in 7.6% of the sample, with autoimmune hypothyroidism being the most common at 44%. A history of alopecia was found in 42.7% of participants. Moderate stress levels were reported by 76.7% of students. Significant correlations were found between hair loss and academic programs, with accounting, law, and medicine students being the most affected. The study concluded that the high proportion of hair loss among students necessitated urgent intervention.
