TLDR Albizia saponaria bark ethanol extract, particularly at 15%, promotes hair growth in rabbits.
The study assessed the efficacy of Albizia saponaria bark ethanol extract in promoting hair growth in male rabbits. Phytochemical screening identified tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenols, and triterpenoids in the extract. The in vivo assay utilized 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% concentrations of the extract, with the 15% concentration showing significant hair growth over 24 days, comparable to the positive control, minoxidil. The water fraction of the 15% extract achieved a hair length of 1.18 cm and weight of 0.086 g, against minoxidil's 1.22 cm and 0.090 g. ANOVA analysis confirmed the results were statistically significant with a p-value <0.05. The study concluded that the 15% ethanol extract, especially its water fraction, has potential as a natural hair growth promoter in rabbits, warranting further investigation to pinpoint the active compounds.
