The study aimed to evaluate the frequency and associations of hair follicle occlusion diseases (FOL) among patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (SH). Conducted with 48 patients (20 women and 28 men), the research found that 45.8% had severe acne and 33.3% had pilonidal cysts, with no cases of dissecting scalp cellulitis. Men were more affected by severe acne and pilonidal cysts than women. Severe SH was more common in patients with both acne and pilonidal cysts. Additionally, there were significant associations between severe acne and depression, pilonidal cysts and peripheral neuropathy, and both conditions with lymphoma. The study highlights the prevalence of FOL in SH patients and its correlation with other health issues.
