The Relationship Between Types of Hair Coloring With Hair Damages and Scalp Problems in Medical Students of University Sumatera Utara, Indonesia

    TLDR Hair coloring is strongly linked to hair damage and scalp problems.
    The study conducted at the University Sumatera Utara examined the relationship between hair coloring and hair damages/scalp problems among 300 medical students. It found that 77% of the students experienced hair damages, with the most common being a combination of split ends and hair loss (41.5%). Additionally, 64.3% of the students had scalp problems, with scaly scalp being the most prevalent (45.1%). The relationship between the type of hair coloring and both hair damages and scalp problems was statistically significant (p=0.0001), indicating a strong correlation.
