TLDR Silver nanoparticles made from Grewia optiva leaf extract show strong antibacterial, antioxidant, and hair growth benefits.
In this study, silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) were synthesized using Grewia optiva leaf extract and isolated compounds, with their bioreductant capacity confirmed through various analytical techniques. The leaf extract contained 8 bioactive compounds, and the Ag-NPs demonstrated superior antioxidant and antibacterial activities compared to the extract alone. The effect on hair growth was also evaluated through topical treatment on rabbits. Among the isolated compounds, compound VII showed the highest bioreductant capacity. The findings suggested that these biogenically engineered Ag-NPs could serve as promising therapeutic agents for antibacterial, antioxidant, and hair growth applications, warranting further investigation.
