TLDR Grapefruit peel essential oil with Gleditsia sinensis extract can make hair grow faster and longer in mice.
The study evaluated the hair growth promoting effect of essential oil from grapefruit peel combined with dried Gleditsia sinensis extract powder on a model of shaved white mice. The mice were treated with the grapefruit oil formulation, minoxidil 5%, or saline daily on their shaved skin. The results showed that the hair growth in mice treated with the grapefruit oil formulation was significantly faster than in untreated mice (p<0.05). The length of the hair also significantly improved in the mice after using the formulation (25% increase). With a significance level of 91%, it was observed that using the grapefruit oil formulation or minoxidil significantly increased the amount of hair. The conclusion of the study is that the grapefruit oil formulation has the potential to improve hair conditions, promoting faster, more, and longer hair growth.

Grapefruit juice doesn't significantly affect finasteride or dutasteride. Drinking topical minoxidil is risky; saw palmetto is less effective than finasteride or dutasteride for hair loss.
