Effects of Geranium Rose Oil on Keratinocyte Differentiation and Hair Growth

    이종순
TLDR Geranium rose oil promotes hair growth and skin cell differentiation.
The study investigated the effects of Geranium rose oil on hair growth and keratinocyte differentiation using a shaving animal model of C57BL/6 mice. The mice were divided into three groups: a negative control group (vehicle), a positive control group (5% minoxidil), and an experimental group (3% Geranium rose oil). The oil was applied topically every other day for 4 weeks. Results showed that Geranium rose oil accelerated hair regrowth faster than the vehicle group, promoting hair follicle development and elongation by 115%. Additionally, in vitro tests on human keratinocytes indicated that Geranium rose oil slightly increased involucrin promoter activity, suggesting its potential as a treatment for hair loss and for promoting keratinocyte differentiation.
