TLDR E. flocculosum is the main fungus causing hair loss in female students, needing better antifungal treatments.
The study conducted at the College of Education for Girls/University of Shatra aimed to identify fungi causing hair loss among female students, particularly due to conditions like crowded living spaces and the use of head coverings. Over a month, 100 hair samples were collected and analyzed, revealing that E. flocculosum was the most prevalent fungal species, followed by C. carrionii and other genera. The findings highlight the need for effective antifungal treatments to address scalp fungal infections in this population.
